Mr. Wood is also a Sullivan County Forester. This program is being offered by the New Hampshire Humanities Council. Mr. Wood will begin his program with a recounting of Lincoln's early life and will end with a reading of his famous Gettysburg Address. During his presentation, Mr. Wood will comment on Lincoln's debates with Stephen Douglas, his campaign for the presidency, and the agony of the Civil War between the states, which divided our nation and threatened to destroy the union. In his presentation, he will challenge the audience to reexamine their knowledge of Lincoln's views on slavery and on abolition.

The program will set the stage for our May 21st program, Hollis Company H - A Civil War Journey, as told through letters written home to Hollis families and compiled by Joan Tinklepaugh.

Please note that this program is on the fourth Thursday, not the regular third Thursday that is our custom. This is for everyone's convenience, since their are so many school and town meetings earlier in the month.
