The President's Message
I would like to begin by taking a look back at how the 2006-2007 season began and also mention future programs. Our first meeting in October was an outstanding performance by actress Elena Dodd in her "Meet Eleanor Roosevelt" role. She portrayed the first lady to a tee for a large and appreciative audience. Many of the audience shared anecdotes about Eleanor at the close of the program. It was a history lesson, a time of reflection and it was entertaining for all. The November meeting brought out many railroad buffs to hear and view Paul Giblin's "The Flying Yankee".
At the March 29th meeting we will continue the tradition begun last year of having longtime residents relate their stories about Hollis "way back when". Jim Belanger will be on hand to record the evening. Come and join the fun! We are eagerly looking forward to our April and May meetings that will be held in the Lawrence Barn!
I invite you to look further in the newsletter for upcoming events at the Wheeler House and the Engine House Museums and I would like to welcome all who would like to take part in any of the activities of the society I hope to see many of you at our Spring Program.
Sincerely Yours,
Marilyn Wehrle
